Rugby Union

The Rugby Union Program is a part of the Targeted Sports Program (TSP) of Endeavour Sports High School. We offer a unique opportunity to combine academic studies with training at school. Students will be given specialised coaching in all aspects of Rugby Union with a preferred focus on Rugby Sevens. In order to develop core skills and understanding of the game, TSP Rugby Union uses a simple ‘back to basics’ philosophy.
Core skills are practised repetitiously in isolation and in game context, in order to provide players with a sound rugby foundation for their future rugby careers. All students must play club rugby on weekends. Each group will be coached by qualified coaches who are teachers at the school. They will mentor their players to ensure they have every opportunity to succeed in sport and in their education whilst they are at Endeavour Sports High School.

The program is fully integrated into the school day so that no student’s academic progress is jeopardised. Students in the Rugby Union Program receive both first class technical training and personal skills related to being an elite athlete.
The program consists of:
Every opportunity is given to each student to forge their own career path from Junior Selection to Open Representation. Students are given opportunities to trial for representative teams such as Sydney East, CHS and NSW. Indigenous players also have the opportunities to trial for the Lloyd McDermott teams.
Whilst the primary aim of the TSP Rugby Union Program is to develop the individual in relation to individual skills and team play, Endeavour also considers it important that all players develop attitudes and knowledge about the importance of team commitment.
As a result Endeavour enters teams in all State High School sanctioned competitions:
