What sports are offered?
AFL, Athletics, Baseball, Basketball, Cheerleading, Cricket, Dance, Hockey, Netball, Rugby League, Boys and Girls Rugby Union, Boys and Girls Soccer, Swimming, Tennis.
How many sports can I trial for?
Two, however you can only be enrolled in one sport.
When do students train?
Usually on Tuesday from 1pm to 2.50pm and on Thursday from 12.30pm to 2.50pm. Some sports may have before school training for particular groups.
Will my child miss any class time as a result of being in TSP?
No, your child will attend class for the same number of hours as any other student in any other school.
Thursday afternoon is the normal sports afternoon where everyone attends sport. On Tuesday afternoon Year 7 and 8 students who are not in TSP attend enrichment lessons in music, dance cooking or drama.
Years 9 and 10 TSP students select TSP as a four period elective, two of which are practical on Tuesday afternoon and two of which are theory taught elsewhere in the week.
On Tuesday afternoon Year 11 and 12 students who need to train for TSP have re-scheduled lessons.
Is there a fee involved?
Yes. TSP is a user pays program with fees used primarily to pay coaches, purchase training gear, pay for venues and so on. There is a $30 application fee and a yearly fee ranging from $650 to $1250 depending on the sport. Fees are payable in advance. All monies raised in a particular sport are spent within that sport and in the administration of TSP.
Where are the venues?
Venues are at school and throughout the Sutherland Shire. Where required a bus is provided at a cost of approximately $6.
When are the trials?
Upon completing the TSP application form you will be sent a timetable of trial dates, venues and equipment required. The trials will be held in school time.
Who conducts the trials?
The trials are conducted by the independent coaching staff and mentors of each Targeted Sport.
What is a mentor?
Each TSP sport has a teacher attached to supervise the students on Tuesday and Thursday. The mentor fulfils an important welfare role and liaises between the coaching staff and parents.
What is expected of my child if they join TSP?
